engineering college in amaravathipudur!

When I did PUC in 1974, there were few engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu. I was going to Annamalai University at Chidambaram for my degree in Engineering. I started travel by Steam Engined, "BOAT MAIL" and it got converted in to Dieseled Engine in 1976 or something like. It was a great distance for a village youth like me.
Now I found one " Raja Rajan Engineering" college at Amaravathipudur. I am not able to believe. Great leap for AMARAVATHIPUR.

Kamban Thiruvilla of Karaikudi

When I was young I noticed a Kamban Thiruvilla, was organized by one weell known person, Kamban Adi Podi. I was not fortunate to attend any of that programme. As I mentioned in other blog posting I was leading a lonelly life at Amaravathipudur in a compound named "Appar Illam".

Today I noticed two functions at Karaikudi.

World Tamil Writters is hosting 19th Annual Function at VKN Malligai, College Road, Karaikudi at 05 00 PM today.

The another one is being hosted by Tamilnadu Murpoku Eluthalar Kalaigar Sangam, the monthly Peravai Kootam. This is being held to day at 06 00 PM at

It is a surpraise to note only very few only visited this "Amaravathipudur" site. As I am also not a very pro blogger, it is a surpraise to me.

The blog world may not be working on a site over a small village tucked in south india.

A blog in cinima, computer, or even on a mobile phone might have attacted more trafic to this site.

And why I should look for more trafic, when decided to host a Site in tribute to my village? Not essential to count on trafic and write on "Amaravathipudur"

When I was a school boy I was thinking Karaikudi is 3 Kilometers away from Amaravathipudur, now I realised it is 8 or 10 kilometers away from Karaikudi.

It is very strange to see autos are there in Amaravathipudur. I used to go there by bullock cart, occasionally by bus. And many buses would hesitate to stop at Amaravathipur, they prefer to rush to Devakottai.

After I got admission in Annamalai University, and spent whole 5 years to earn my B E Mechanical engineering degree, I was starting to miss my Amaravathipu

1973-2013

I got the SSLC cleared from the SCGR Higher Secondary School in May 1973. So 40 years passed. It is very hard to believe that 40 years rolled.
The teachers of that era might have retired.
Two years back I had seen 'Suppan Annan' in the compass. He was able to recollect me.
After that my sister, Kanagamani was informing me that she too visited and I am not sure that she met him. She might have cleared SSLC, at least 6 or 7 years before me.
We miss AMARAVATHIPUR.
