villangavantha amman

My house was very near to this villangavantha amman, in a lane.

Daily I was required to go around this temple at leat two or three times.

This temple was blessed with a old tree, we call it some 'bala maram' or some thing like that. It used to give some tiny fruit, we used to eat them. But we need to be careful with raw fruit, which ozees out a milky substance, a harmful substance.

We used to play in front of this temple, but at late seventies a water tank came and stolen the ground.

The lane near this temple was busy in seventies now it lost its glamour. Some what no one was using.

why only few visited Amaravathipur

It is a surpraise that only very few visited this site. I am not a blog savy guy to figure out answer.

And I need to look for trafic or keep write something in tribute to this village where I was born and lived through my childhood.

When I was a kid that I was thinking that Karaikudi is 3 or 4 kilometers away from my Amaravathipudur, now I realize it is 10 kilometers away.

I used to go to Karaikudi in bullock cart and some times by bus. Many buses would hesitate to stop at Amaravathipur, and rush to Devakottai.

Kanadasan studied in Gurukulam and me too!

When I got admission in Annamalaiuniversity, I was spending more time at Chidambaram, at hostel and started missing Amaravathipudur. After college, I went Visakhapatnam I started missing the village to a great extent.I was visiting once in two years and was pending few days only.

I was a loner, brought up in a compound had ver few friends, a perfect mechanism to loose grip over the roots, my Amaravathipudur.

Then my paents migrated to Thanjavur after living 60 plus years in Amaravathipur, we stated to visit only Thanjavur, and started to drift away from my village.

In 2006 visited for a day, walked in Gurukulam, only Suppan Annan was remembering me and met SP Radha and left.

Many may not remember Kanagamani my sister or me Kanagasabai.

SP RADHA

I started this BLOG but not up dated keenly. Few coments are there, even some one remembered me.

It is very sad, 10 days back I was in Amaravathipudur, to bid the final good bye to beloved SP Radha, who died on her way back from her trip to Amar Nath.

Please join with me to pray for her soul to rest in peace.
